The IEA is pleased to announce the 2012 Beesley Lectures

Speaker: Tommaso Valletti, Professor of Economics, Imperial College London

Chair and Commentator: Lord David Currie, Former Chairman, Ofcom

Technology is progressing rapidly, leaving regulation in media to catch up. This lecture will cover how the media landscape is changing, examine the convergence implications for regulating broadcasting, provide an overview of spectrum policies and give some suggestions in regulating new media.

The Beesley Lectures are a series of eight annual lectures covering regulated industries in the UK. The lectures are held in memory of Professor Michael Beesley, who was a leading architect of the British  system of utility regulation and a Managing Trustee of the Institute ofEconomic Affairs. He founded the series in 1991 and organised them until his death in 1999.
