The IEA is pleased to announce the 2011 Beesley Lectures

The recommendations of the final ICB report this September will summarise what reform should be undertaken to make banks safer. Sir John will discuss banks’ capacity to absorb losses, measures to improve competition in the UK and the broader international context                                                                                                   

The Beesley Lectures are a series of eight annual lectures covering regulated industries in the UK. Now in their twentieth year, the lectures are held in memory of Professor Michael Beesley, who was a leading architect of the British system of utility regulation and a Managing Trustee of the Institute of Economic Affairs. He founded the series in 1991 and organised them until his death in 1999.
