A sugar tax is not a solution

Christopher Snowdon appears on the Alan Titchmarsh Show

The IEA Director of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon appeared on the Alan Titchmarsh Show, opposing the proposed sugar tax as a means of reducing obesity in the UK. Those in favour of the tax claim that it will improve public health and save money. In reality however, Chris argues that taxing sugar is an inefficient and expensive way of achieving not very much. Chris also draws from previous taxes on food that failed to improve public health.
