Big London Energy Switch may crowd out free market groups

Mark Littlewood appears on BBC Sunday Politics and BBC News

London's councils are trying to get a million homeowners to sign up to a deal to buy their energy together to try to lower their bills. Mark Littlewood discussed the plans on BBC Parliament’s Sunday Politics and BBC News.

“There is a big distortion of the market here. If London councils do this together combined as one it makes it nearly impossible for smaller more agile voluntary groups to enter the market,” argued Mr Littlewood.

The positive effects of smarter more spontaneous actions in the free market are likely to be crowded out by the actions of London councils.
