Britain's Single-Parent Problem

We Brits are known for many things. Being overly polite, fond of eccentrics, and with a penchant for queuing—we endear ourselves to much of the rest of the world.

But some of our societal quirks are not so innocuous. New research shows the U.K. is unique in how it combines high levels of single parenthood with extremely low levels of single-parent employment. Single parenthood is a key driver of poverty in Britain.
