Caution required despite promising inflation figures

Professor Philip Booth, IEA Editorial and Programme Director, was quoted in The Express regarding the welcome fall in inflation in the UK, but also providing reason for caution. The article concerned the housing price boom as the average house price in the UK has reached £250,000 for the first time. This brings up a number of issues regarding the standard of living in the UK and Philip argued that this is the first time in four years the inflation target of two percent has been reached and that the Bank of England should undershoot this target as often as it overshoots.
