Debt interest repayments almost equal education spending

Ruth Porter appeared on The Big Questions to discuss the benefits system and the case for tax cuts.

With a floundering economy in which debt interest repayments are just less than education expenditure, Ruth Porter argued that we desperately need to increase growth. By lowering taxes and therefore allowing people to keep more of what they earn, people will be incentivised to set up and grow businesses in the UK thereby stimulating economic growth. Ms Porter argued that "taking from the rich and giving to the poor" is not an accurate description of the current situation. In fact we are taking from the next generation to fund the current one.
