Decline of the high street is sign of change

Richard Wellings appears on BBC Radio Merseyside

IEA Deputy Editorial Director Dr Richard Wellings spoke about the decline of the independent trader on the high street due to the internet. He argued that the economy advances by people, services and industry becoming more productive and the current decline of the high street is part of that process. Furthermore, he argued that the high street, subject to planning regulations, is able to change and become more vibrant either from changing into entertainment venues or into housing.
