Kristian Niemietz, Senior Research Fellow at the IEA, has featured in the Financial Times in an article concerning ways to cool down the housing market.
In the article, Kristian explains that extreme land-use planning restrictions have meant that the UK lags behind all other Western European countries in terms of residential floor space per household.
In order to make housing more affordable we need extensive liberalisation of planning laws, the abolition of green belts and a decentralised tax system in order to incentivies development.
