HS2 money would be better spent elsewhere

Richard Wellings appears on BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire

Richard Wellings appeared on BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire to discuss HS2.

The money being spent on HS2 could be much more useful elsewhere. The government's own figures show that the high speed rail scheme is very poor value for money for taxpayers. Dr Wellings argues for the funds to be distributed to alternative local transport schemes. These local projects would ensure the returns to the taxpayers would be much higher, the benefits would be delivered more quickly and there would be a much smaller risk of the budgets overrunning.
