HS2 rail link cost doubles to £80billion

The controversial High Speed Rail link has doubled in price to over £80billion, says an experts’ report due out tomorrow.

The respected Institute for Economic Affairs claims HS2 will cost taxpayers £3,000 per home, the Sunday People can reveal.

Its shock findings will fuel calls from MPs, environmental groups and transport experts to bin the scheme to cut journey times between London and the regions.
