Think tanks are moving away from political parties to devise and even
deliver ideas for all, writes Ed Vaizey
Step outside your front door in the Westminster village and you run the risk
of being knocked flat by a passing think tank rushing to claim the
intellectual high ground. The past few months have seen a flurry of activity
in the world of the policy wonks, with both left and right giving birth to
new organisations dedicated to innovative thinking. The Tories have launched
Policy Exchange, while last week Labour set up Forethought to predict trends
