Following discussions over the implementation of a living wage, Ruth Porter appeared on BBC Look North.
"If you take the people who are on a minimum wage and put their salaries up, you're then going to have to pro rata put up everyone else's salaries. The cost of this could end up being quite substantial and at a time when we can't afford that in terms of the public finances, it could end up leading to redundancies," argued Ms Porter.
