Make patients pay for own drugs to save NHS, says MP

The London Evening Standard reports on proposed changes to the NHS

Patients should pay for their drugs because people lacking wartime stoicism and with unhealthy lifestyles are pushing the NHS towards collapse, a Tory MP said.

“Their perception of pain and suffering is profoundly different to their stoic parents who survived the war,” he told a seminar at the Institute of Economic Affairs.

Dr Lee’s vision was part of a presentation by Free Enterprise Group of Tory MPs on how to tackle Britain’s £1 trillion debt crisis.
