Britain's high-tax, high-regulation culture threatens productivity growth

In an interview on Al Jazeera, Mark Littlewood argues that the monumental growth of Britain's public sector over the last ten years has undermined the country's economic dynamism. Moreover, a high-tax, high-regulation culture threatens to lower productivity growth.

While some other European countries have undertaken programmes of economic liberalisation over the last decade, the UK has been moving in the wrong direction. The US also risks losing its cutting edge by expanding the role of government.
