Philip Booth, Editorial and Programme Director at the IEA, appears on BBC Radio Four to discuss whether or not mobile phone networks should be nationalised.
In the interview Philip argues against the idea that when it comes to mobile phone coverage, the market has let us down and the industry should be nationalised in order to supply coverage to all those that need it. Philip acknowledges that phone providers will extend networks as far as is economically desirable, however he makes the point that it is far more beneficial to have a private innovative market providing an expanding network at cheaper prices compared to a nationalised provider.
