Nearly half renting property in UK claim housing benefit

Mark Littlewood appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live to discuss recent changes to the benefits system.

Mr Littlewood stated that the basic principle that those on housing benefit have an obligation to seek an appropriately sized property is a good principle. With nearly half of all people in the UK who rent property on some form of housing benefit, it is clear that we are not focused on the very poor. The fact that the average household contributes more than £8,000 per year to the welfare state and we have not eliminated poverty is testament to this.
