Plain packaging of cigarettes makes it incredibly easy for criminals to replicate. Currently, there are about 260 different brands of cigarettes on the market in the UK. By regulating the packaging of cigarettes, it makes it very easy for organised crime to copy. The UK already has a major problem with illicit tobacco, which is much worse for your health than a normal cigarette. By standardising packaging, these criminal elements will be able to infiltrate the market much more easily.
