State-funded political activism by charities subverts democratic process

IEA research features in City AM

A publication by IEA Director of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon about how charities and civil society groups lobby and campaign the government whilst in receipt of government funding was featured in City AM. Christopher argues that the funding by such charities subverts the democratic process as funding of projects that are not overly popular with the electorate are funded, such as foreign aid.

The publication calls for the end of unrestricted grants to charities and civil society groups with no set purpose.
