Tax breaks for childcare are not the answer

Mark Littlewood talks to BBC Radio 5's Tony Livesey

Following announcements from the Government that parents can claim up to £1,200 per year in costs per child, Mark Littlewood appeared on BBC Radio 5 to discuss the proposal.

Mr Littlewood argued that the proposed system is incredibly complex and fails to address the key issue that childcare in the UK is more expensive than any other Western European country despite being subsidised more. He went on to argue that we must make childcare cheaper by deregulating the market rather than making the extremely costly service tax-deductible. The idea that those without children should subsidise those who do is not fair.
