Mark Littlewood appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live to discuss the G8 pledge to regulate tax havens.
The new pledge by the G8 to increase information sharing across international borders seems to be a lot of posturing. The issue with companies such as Google or Amazon was not transparency, so more information sharing will not be helpful. Citing IEA research on tax havens, Turn down the heat, switch on the light, Mr Littlewood explained why tax competition is necessary for a healthy economy. The current government is in fact reducing the UK corporation tax to encourage business to relocate here.
