Tax cuts needed to kickstart economy

The Free Enterprise Group of Tory MPs will today meet financial experts at the Institute of Economic Affairs to set out plans for cuts to business taxes.

Lord Forsyth of Drumlean, a former Tory Cabinet Minister who chaired Mr Osborne's tax reform committee, said changes were vital.

"Out there in the country, people are hurting, their living standards are falling, they're finding it difficult to pay for their gas and electricity bills.

"The amount that's left in their pay packets after stoppages is less and less."
