On the day that the national minimum wage rose to £6.08, Mark Littlewood, IEA Director General, appeared on BBC One's Panorama, arguing that the minimum wage acts as a barrier to those at the bottom end of the labour market getting into work. If we want people to be able to get work, or to get their first foot on the employment ladder, they should be free to sell their labour at the price that the market will bear.
