True fall in wages missed by official statistics

Ryan Bourne appears in CityAM

Ryan Bourne, Head of Public Policy at the IEA, appears in CityAM in relation to claims by the Labour Party that statistics on real wages have failed to include those individuals that are self-employed. Labour has argued that self-employed individuals have seen a fall in real wages, causing them to be hard-hit by the high cost of living. In the article, Ryan states that you cannot infer how a certain group fares from identifying a fall in their income alone.
