Mark Littlewood outlined how the UK has one of the slowest and most complex planning systems possible, which is considerably more complex than those in other European countries.
He argued that we must be realistic about the amount of land available. There is a housing crisis and there is not enough stock for those trying to move on to the property ladder.
He explained that we have the potential to do a lot more building, and argued for a move towards a system more like the French where if development occurs on your doorstep you receive compensation. We need a better compensation culture to prevent NIMBY-ism.
