With local government budgets being slashed, the cutting of certain public services seems inevitable.

Ruth Porter appears on BBC Radio Stoke's Mid-morning programme and argues that, whilst it is entirely necessary that substantial cuts are made to public spending, it is not to say that certain services cannot continue, provided through local community, as opposed to central government, means.
