Laffer curve ball: Thatcher's tax guru tells Cameron to slash spending to pay for 10% tax cut and end to IHT

The Daily Mail writes about Dr Laffer's suggestions to cut tax

Britain should slash public spending by a fifth this year and introduce deep cuts in taxes, George Osborne’s former tax guru said yesterday.

American economist Dr Arthur Laffer said the Coalition had continued Labour’s mistakes by failing to recognise the need to cut taxes to kickstart the economy.

Dr Laffer, an economic adviser to both Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan, said public spending should be cut by 20 per cent immediately to help pay for deep cuts in taxes.
