Implementation is one thing, but where is the plan? Just as one swallow doesn’t make a summer, a few ad hoc policies don’t constitute a plan. The focus of the reshuffle has been putting into practice existing policies. The government has even announced that it is setting up a Growth Implementation Committee, as part of this focus. This is a start but it is not enough.
So far the economic [2] strategy of the government has been to announce minor spending cuts and fairly substantial tax rises. They have implemented most of the tax rises and a few of the cuts. They have talked a lot about deregulation, but have struggled to make it happen.
