Ruth Porter appeared with Patrick Diamond discussing a number of topics on the sofa with Andrew Neil.
They discussed Michael Gove's proposals for an overhaul of the GCSE system whereby modules and continual assessment will be replaced by a single exam. Ruth argued that we need a much more diverse education system. It is extraordinary that the government have expended so much political capital focusing on simply GCSE system. There are far more fundamental issues that need tackling, such as improving basic skills such as maths and reading.
They also discussed think tanks. Ruth defended their place in politics. Ideas matter and that is the fundamental basis of thinks tanks.
