As the UK announced that it will be cutting all aid to India by 2015, Philip Booth told the BBC World Service that government aid to poorer countries has a historically poor record.
One reason for this, Philip booth argued, was that aid to poorer countries gets siphoned off by the rich, potentially creating greater corruption. Whilst being one of the poorest countries, India is the seventh biggest military spender in the world and has a developing space programme.
Home grown Indian policies would be in the best interest for the poorest people, Philip Booth said, as currently 50% of all food in India goes completely to waste.
