Responding to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s recent display of religious faith, Mark Litlewood was interviewed on the Sunday programme on BBC Radio 4 to discuss leadership and religion.
Mark Littlewood said that politicians talking about their religious views was not a wholly helpful thing as it blurs the separation between Church and State. He argued that Merkel was straying away from politics and being something of a missionary.

Perhaps this is because they echo concerns often found on political backbenches, Mark Littlewood said.
