Stephanie Lis appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live to discuss reforms to the welfare system and the Disability Living Allowance (DLA).
Ms Lis stated that we need to ensure that the right people are getting the right benefits. The UK needs to return to the principle that the welfare state is a safety net established to help those in need. Considering the fact that claimants have risen from 2 million to approximately 3.2 million over the last fifteen years, a robust system is needed to ensure that welfare is being allocated effectively. 71% of DLA claimants receive the allowance for life so it is important to assess whether their conditions have changed.
