The UK could soon provide rooms where addicts can take illegal drugs without being arrested in an attempt to reduce the number of people dying as a result of taking drugs. The city of Brighton wants to provide such a safe haven for drug addicts. VoR hosts a debate on the idea.
Christopher Snowdon stated that despite being in favour of drug consumption rooms, he believes they are an example of institutional hypocrisy. One one hand, the state says that some drugs are so bad that selling them will result in a prison sentence but on the other hand they will supply rooms and syringes for people to safely consume them. He went on to argue that we need a law that is consistent and one that we can believe in.
