Gabriel Sahlgren appeared on BBC Radio 2 to discuss his research on the ill effects of retirement.
The report, published by the Institute of Economic Affairs think tank and Age Endeavour Fellowship, states that in the long-term retirees are more likely to become depressed and decline in health than those continuing to work. Mr Sahlgren explains that retiring leads to an inevitable drop in income and a loss of social circles. The report advocates for those planning for retirement to mimic work structures or continue to work part time.
