How English Universities Could Learn from the American Higher Education System

In the twenty-fifth IEA Discussion Paper, Sir Cyril Taylor GBE analyses the deficiencies of the English higher education system.
The paper contrasts the English experience (which in general also applies to the rest of the UK) with the success of higher education in the USA, which achieves excellent results despite the difficulties at school level in many urban areas.
The differences in the two systems are set out and recommendations made on how English universities could benefit from adopting many of the American system’s techniques.
