Support us

If you would like to support our work please consider becoming a donor or subscriber.

The IEA is an educational charity – and it is the continued generosity of our supporters that allows us to develop our extensive and increasing range of activities, across areas such as publications, media, events and student outreach.

We are independent of political parties and vested interests and receive no government funding – or corporate donations tied to policy areas or outcomes.

That means we are totally reliant on our supporters to help us:

  • Produce acclaimed books and journals that spread the free market message far and wide.
  • Put scores of young free marketers through our intern programme – helping create the next generation of leaders and opinion formers.
  • Stage around 100 events a year – from discreet gatherings to lectures attended by hundreds.
  • Generate over 1,000 media appearances a year – across print, TV, radio and the internet.
  • Introduce ambitious educational initiatives into schools and universities throughout the UK – and beyond.
  • Attract over a million hits a month to our website.
  • Reach thousands through our eNewsletter.

And we want to do more. So, if you’d like to support the IEA you can do this by:

Making a donation

Every donation to our work, no matter the size, is extremely gratefully received. We hope you can support our work by giving at one of the three levels that make up our individual giving programme.

If you would like to make a company donation, please contact Tom Papworth, Development Manager, tpapworth@iea.org.uk, 020 7799 8909.

  • Events - You will be invited to our programme of private, ‘by invitation only’ suppers and lunches (approximately 45 a year) and you will also be invited to our public events (as seen on our website).
  • Keeping in Touch - You will also receive our eNewsletter, keeping you up to date on our research, analysis, press coverage and upcoming public events.
  • Progress and Impact - To keep you updated on our impact and how your support is helping us achieve our goals, we will send you a progress report three times a year. You will also be invited to the IEA Christmas party which, in an informal setting, will review some of the highlights of the past year.

Member of the Hayek Circle - £1000+ a year
Named after one of the most preeminent economic theorists of the twentieth century, the Hayek Circle is for donors who would like to donate upwards of £1000.

  • Research - As a member of the Hayek Circle you will receive the benefits of an Associate of the IEA but you can choose to receive hard copies of our web papers and, in addition, IEA co-published books.
  • Press Briefings - You will also be invited to occasional press briefings for immediate reaction and analysis to important events like the Budget.
  • Events - We will also ensure that you are invited to additional events outside of our private and public events programme for a more intimate update on our work.

Principal Donor - £5000+ a year
The generosity of those able to support the IEA by giving £5,000 or more is reflected by the close relationship we develop with our Principal Donors.  Via one-to-one meetings with senior staff and invitations to not only our private and public events programmes but also to unique one off events, we bring you close to the heart of our work.

By giving at this level you will automatically receive all the benefits as outlined above.

I on the future - £150 a year
If you are under 30 and would like to support the IEA you will qualify for the Under 30s level.  You will receive the same benefits as an Associate and have opportunities to meet other like-minded donors in your age group.

To donate, please visit our Donate page, or contact Tom Papworth on tpapworth@iea.org.uk or on 020 7799 8908.

Becoming a subscriber

Becoming an IEA subscriber in the UK costs £42 a year.  For UK students, it is just £30.

That brings you, on average, six monographs each year, plus invites to our public events – from book launches and panel discussions to set-piece lectures and debates.

Invest in the IEA. We are the catalyst for changing consensus and influencing public debate.
